1.
The foremost thing that Allah forbade us from is Shirk (associating partners
with Allah).
Allah
says: "Say (O Muhammad SAW ): Come, I will recite what your Lord has
prohibited you from: Join not anything in worship with Him…” [Surah Anaam (6): 151]
2.
Shirk is the greatest of all sins and is the only sin that Allah will never
forgive (unless the person turns back), while He may forgive all other sins
according to His wisdom and justice.
Allah
says: “Verily, Allâh forgives not that partners should be set up with him in
worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and
whoever sets up partners with Allâh in worship, he has indeed invented a
tremendous sin.” [Surah Nisa (4): 48]
3.
A person indulged in Shirk will never enter Paradise and he will remain in the
Hellfire forever. Moreover, he will not find anyone to intercede for
him.
Allah
says: “… Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allâh, then Allâh
has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the
Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers.” [Surah Maidah (5): 72]
4.
Whatever great good deeds a person committing Shirk might do, they won’t be
of any use to him on the Day of Resurrection and he will enter Hell because
of the Shirk that he was involved in.
Allah
says: “And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad SAW), as it was to
those (Allâh's Messengers) before you: ‘If you join others in worship with
Allâh, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly
be among the losers." [Surah Zumar
(39): 65]
Shirk
is far greater than any other sin that we can imagine. This is because all
other sins that we think of as great evil correspond to the rights of the
creation but Shirk corresponds to the right of Allah- our Creator,
Provider and Sustainer! So,
we should protect ourselves from falling into it.
We
ask Allah for guidance and protection. Ameen!
